Capacity Building. Training and mentoring to improve capacity of border management agencies to perform their duties will be required for the foreseeable future. BOMNAF and other agencies continue to train Border Management personnel on the border.

Joint Trainings. Plans are under development for joint cross-border training events, including training in Search Techniques, Passport Control, etc., for Afghan Border Police/Customs and Tajik Border Guard/Customs, to be hosted at BOMNAF facilities on the Afghanistan side of the border. Preliminary discussions with Afghan Border Police and Tajik Border Guards have verified interest in cooperative efforts for such joint training activities. A training needs analysis study at the largest border crossing point between the two countries, Nizhny Pyanj/Shir Khan Bandar, confirmed the need for the same training on each side.
