In order to improve the working and living conditions of the Afghan Border Police and other agencies’ officers stationed on the Northern Borders of Afghanistan, EU-BOMNAF continues to improve the border infrastructure by building new facilities, upgrading and renovating existing buildings. So far, the project built and handed over to beneficiaries the following infrastructure projects:

  • Border Police Battalion HQ # 7 in Eshkashim, completed and handed over in 2008
  • Border Commissariat in Eshkashim, completed and handed over in 2008
  • Border Crossing Point (BCP) in Eshkashim, completed and handed over in 2008
  • Border Crossing Point (BCP) in Sheghnan, completed and handed over in 2009
  • Border Outpost (BO) in Sheghnan, completed and handed over in 2009
  • Border Liaison Office (BLO) in Shegnan, completed and handed over in 2014
  • Border Crossing Point (BCP) in Nusai, completed and handed over in 2010
  • Border Outpost (BO) in Nusai, completed and handed over in 2010
  • Border Crossing Point (BCP) in Djomarchi Bolo, completed and handed over in 2014
  • Border Outpost (BO) in Qal’ai Zal, completed and handed over in 2014

Construction of a Battalion Headquarters and facilities for the 6th Battalion of the Afghan Border Police in Chashmai Tut, Khohon District is ongoing and due for completion by end 2015 - ONGOING.

In order to respond to beneficiaries’ needs and addressing regional development requirements, such as the construction of bridges over the Amu Darya River and cross-border markets built by EU, as well as other donors and partners, EU-BOMNAF is considering to implement the following construction projects during its current phase till mid 2017:

  • Construction of a BCP in Dehqan Khane, on the Afghan Tajik border in the Vakhan corridor
  • Construction of a BCP in Khohon, on the Afghan Tajik border
  • Construction of a Training Centre at the Afghan Border Police Zone # 806 HQ in Mazar-e Sharif

All facilities consist of office space for officers, sleeping accommodations, kitchen and dining facility, showers, warehouses etc., and an independent water supply system. Most recent constructed buildings are designed and built using energy efficient and environmentally friendly designs and techniques and all installations are provided with solar power supply systems.
